eón is a place that deserves more than one visit. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet weekend, a charming after-dinner conversation, a pleasurable walk to discover its rich and exuberant architecture. Besides these assets, tons of pilgrims choose León for starting el camino de Santiago, one more reason to feel the city in other way!
From Marly Olé we make our 5 not to miss places if you want to see its most exclusive side:
Parador de León: erected in the 16th century, the former name was Hostal de San Marcos. Its facade is a marvelous work of art and now is used as a luxury hotel. Do not hesitate to grab a drink in its stunning bar or go dinner out in its restaurant.
Barrio Húmedo: its peculiar name was given by different writers along the years but, essentially, it’s the best district for free tapas, paired with drinks. It’s a mandatory stop in any route in León, pour one more glass of wine, please!
Catedral de León: popularly called as pulchra leonina, it’s the main attraction in León. It was the first construction labeled as monument in Spain and we find a bunch of reasons to be entitled like this: the colorful window glasses are indelible similar those ones in Chartres.
MUSAC: Who says that modern and classical cannot coexist? This building gives a touch of colour to the city plus its hosts wonderful exhibitions inside during the whole year.
Casa de los botines: the magic of Gaudí was spread along the country but León concentrates some beautiful artworks. The most famous one in the city is this building, initially designed as a block of flats. Guided tours run everyday to learn about this magnificent artist.
